A simple, powerful database for recording additional support needs and sharing learner profiles with staff. For schools and local authorities. Not a replacement for your MIS, but an enhancement that works alongside it.
Schools and local authorities across Scotland face the same challenges. Here's how SID solves them.
Information scattered across spreadsheets, paper files, SEEMiS, and shared drives. Finding what you need means digging through folders and filtering giant spreadsheets.
One clean, searchable database. Find any pupil's support information in seconds. No more hunting through folders or filtering spreadsheets.
Supply teachers and new staff can't access the shared drive. They're teaching pupils without knowing about crucial support needs, medical conditions, or behaviour plans.
Simple teacher login gives instant access. Any member of staff can view pupil information from day one, ensuring every learner gets the support they need.
Pupil Support staff spend hours each week answering the same questions, collating data for reports, creating chronologies, and preparing profiles for wellbeing plans.
Staff find answers themselves. Built-in statistics, printable profiles, and organised data mean hours saved every week on admin that used to be manual.
Inspections require evidence that all staff have access to information about pupil needs and are meeting those needs in lessons. Proving this is stressful and time-consuming.
Always inspection-ready. Clear evidence that every teacher can access pupil support information, with organised records of needs, supports, and interventions.

Built by someone on the front line who understands the daily challenges.
Darren Devlin is a Principal Teacher of Pastoral Care at a busy mainstream secondary school in Glasgow, Scotland. With over a decade in education since 2014, he manages a house group and maintains a full teaching timetable, balancing classroom responsibilities with the demands of supporting some of the most complex learners in the school.
The Staged Intervention Database was born from real frustration with systems that simply weren't fit for purpose. Clunky spreadsheets that only one person could edit at a time. Staff having to phone through just to check who had a toilet pass. Information scattered, outdated, and difficult to access when it mattered most. As someone dealing with these inefficiencies every single day, Darren knew there had to be a better way.
What started as a passion project to solve his own school's challenges has evolved over more than a year of development. Learning, iterating, and refining based on real-world experience. Early attempts using spreadsheets proved too limited, leading to the powerful, purpose-built solution that exists today. The database is now expanding across the largest local authority in Scotland, helping schools deliver better support to their learners.
Darren's vision is simple: give every teacher rich, real-time information about the pupils in front of them. Help Pupil Support staff and SLT update and share information quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. Make exam verification through the AAA Hub seamless. And ultimately, ensure that no learner falls through the cracks because information wasn't accessible when it was needed.
"This didn't come out of nowhere. It was built over years of experience, months of development, and a genuine understanding of what schools actually need."
